Job summary

WSP is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to provide on-site support for electrical building services designs at major railway stations. The role bridges the WSP design team and main contractors, with emphasis on buildability, site surveys, and commissioning-related activities.

You will liaise with the design team and contractors, attend progress meetings, and help ensure compliance with Network Rail/HS2 standards. This is a site-based rail engineering position within the Stations team.

Qualifications

• Experience in electrical building services design for rail environments.
• UK Engineering Institution registration or equivalent.
• Knowledge of Network Rail/HS2 standards and Building Regulations.
• Awareness of CDM regulations and safety guidelines.
• Ability to review technical submittals and responses.
• Strong liaison with main contractor and design team.

Responsibilities

• Provide site-based support to design teams and main contractor.
• Attend internal and external design, interface and progress meetings.
• Monitor installation progress and report emerging technical risks.
• Review red-line mark-ups for as-built documentation and operating manuals.
• Support commissioning and entry into service activities.
• Produce responses to technical queries and assist with design development notes.
