Job summary

Amey Ltd. is seeking a Permanent Senior Ecologist to join the HSEQ team in a hybrid role (37.5 hrs/wk) with some weekends and nights.

You will lead ecological deliverables across rail projects, ensuring quality, cost and schedule are met. You’ll guide ecological strategy, manage risk, and provide training, supporting accounts and client meetings while shaping ecological governance and process improvements across the business.

Qualifications

• Degree in Ecology or environmental topic.
• MCIEEM membership or equivalent.
• Experience with protected species licenses (e.g., bats or great crested newts).

Responsibilities

• Ecological surveys/inspections and clerk of works duties across sites.
• Develop ecological assurance and governance documentation.
• Update governance documentation on the IMS system.
• Gather ecological case studies and lessons learned across the rail business.
• Develop ecological processes for all accounts to ensure ecological compliance.
• Provide ecological training via in-person sessions, LearnUpon modules, webinars, and toolbox talks.
• Support ecological work winning.
• Attend client biodiversity meetings.
• Liaise with client and supplier representatives at peer level.
