Job summary

Ford & Stanley Talentwise currently seeks a Mechanical Fitter to join a rail vehicle servicing team in Burton upon Trent. This hands-on role focuses on servicing, overhauls and mechanical repairs on rail vehicles.

You will work with a skilled team to deliver high-quality mechanical work safely, efficiently and to engineering specifications. The 6-month contract offers a busy, precision-driven environment.

Shifts:Monday to Thursday07:00 - 16:00 Friday 07:00 - 13:00

Location:Burton upon Trent

The Role

We are currently seekingMechanical Fitter'sto join a team at Barton under Needwood. This is a hands‑on role focused on carrying outservicing, overhauls and associated mechanical repairson rail vehicles.

You will work as part of a skilled team, delivering high‑quality mechanical work safely, efficiently and in line with engineering specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out mandatory servicing and mechanical repairs on rail vehicle systems and components.
• Understand and work effectively withvehicle mechanical interfaces.
• Install, maintain and repairhydraulic systems.
• Carry outfault finding and diagnostic investigationsto identify and rectify defects.

Essential:

• Proven experience in a mechanical fitting, maintenance or overhaul environment.
• Ability to work effectively in afast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems and component repair.
• A flexible and proactive approach to work.
• Commitment to safe working practices.

Desirable:

• Previous experience within therail, automotive, plant or transferable heavy engineering industry.
• Experience working on large sub‑assembly overhaul activities.
