Job summary

The radiotherapy team is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated clinical support worker to join our multi-disciplinary team. The post holder will be a key member of our patient support team which includes Radiotherapy Nurse Practitioners, Therapeutic radiographers, booking co-ordinators, Dosimetrist, Physicists and Clinical Support Workers.

Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills are essential with the ability to be able to build good relationships with patients, families and colleagues within the radiotherapy service and wider MDT.

The applicant should have good IT skills. We operate in a paperless environment and the successful applicant will receive training in the use of the bespoke system "Aria" which is the radiotherapy electronic patient management system and central to all booking, planning and radiotherapy treatment activities.

Please note that this advertised vacancy does not meet the UKVI eligibility requirements for a Skilled Worker Visa and therefore HUTH would not be able to issue a Certificate of Sponsorship for this role.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be involved in the direct care of all radiotherapy patients from being an active member of the pre-treatment team at the CT scan through to their treatment and its completion, providing technical treatment information and giving advice on radiotherapy reactions.

Cannulation and venipuncture competencies are required but can be gained once in the role.

The post holder will have CPD opportunities to allow them to keep up to date with radiotherapy advances, advice and information given to patients. They will also be involved in teaching of radiotherapy students and new staff.

The radiotherapy department is situated in the Queen's Centre and serves a catchment area of 1.2million people in Hull and the surrounding region. This is a UK Centre of Excellence for the treatment and care of patients with cancer and the Radiotherapy Department continues to develop its international reputation built on forward thinking and innovation.

The successful candidate will have a comprehensive induction to the radiotherapy department and training package to support their learning and development.
