Job summary

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a four-month, full-time Radiopharmacy operative within the Radiopharmacy team. The role focuses on preparing and packaging radiopharmaceuticals, sterile aseptic preparation, labeling, and batch-record documentation, all within a clean-room and isolator environment.

Applicants will undergo a media fill test with up to six weeks of training before manufacturing begins. Exposure to Tc-99m, In-111, Lu-177, I-123 and Ra-223 is required.

Qualifications

• Experience with Tc-99m, In-111, Lu-177, I-123 and Ra-223 isotopes.
• Knowledge of radiation protection.
• Experience performing radiochemical purity testing.
• Understanding of Type A packages.
• Understanding of disinfectants and cleaning regimes in aseptic units.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and package diagnostic and therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals.
• Prepare sterile medicines using aseptic techniques.
• Transcribe product requests to batch books and prepare worksheets/labels.
• Assemble raw materials and disinfect for clean-room use.
• Measure and record manufactured radiopharmaceuticals.
• Label and package finished products.
• Monitor environmental plates in rooms and isolators.
• Carry out final product testing including radiochemical purity testing.
• Clean clean rooms and isolators to regulatory standards.
• Clean laboratory equipment.
• Assist in disposal of radioactive waste.
• Receive stock and return generators to suppliers.
