Job summary

Spire Norwich Hospital is hiring a Radiology Assistant to join the Imaging Department on a permanent, part-time basis. You will support patients through their diagnostic journey, working with Radiographers to deliver a high standard of patient care.

The role requires experience in MRI/CT list preparation, patient flow coordination, and IT support, with shifts typically 8:00am–8:00pm on a Tuesday/Thursday plus a half day on another potential day.

Qualifications

  • Experience as Healthcare Assistant or Radiology Assistant in a clinical setting.
  • Ability to work effectively with limited direct supervision.
  • Experience preparing and supporting MRI and CT lists.
  • Experience coordinating patient flow within a clinical environment.
  • Experience assisting with interventional procedures and IT support.

Responsibilities

  • Support patients undergoing imaging investigations.
  • Prepare and support MRI and CT lists for efficient workflow.
  • Coordinate patient flow across the department to aid clinical lists.
  • Assist radiographers and other staff with interventional procedures.
  • Monitor patients and escalate changes in condition as needed.

  • Maintain clinical areas and equipment to high standards.
  • Provide IT support within the department and keep records up to date.

Job description

Spire Norwich Hospital has an exciting opportunity for a Radiology Assistant to join our Imaging Department on a permanent, part‑time basis on Tuesdays and Thursdays with a half day any other potential day of the week.

Duties and Responsibilities

As a Radiology Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting patients throughout their diagnostic journey, working closely with our Radiographers and Specialist Radiographers to deliver an outstanding patient experience.

  • Supporting patients undergoing a range of imaging investigations.
  • Preparing and supporting MRI and CT lists, helping to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the department.
  • Coordinating patient flow across the department to support efficient clinical lists and a positive patient experience.
  • Assisting Radiographers and other clinical colleagues with interventional procedures.
  • Assisting with patient care, observation and monitoring throughout their visit.
  • Identifying and escalating any significant changes in a patient's condition to the appropriate healthcare professional.
  • Assisting with the safe movement and positioning of patients in line with hospital policies and procedures.
  • Preparing clinical areas and ensuring equipment and rooms are maintained to a high standard.
  • Providing IEP and IT support as required within the department.
  • Maintaining accurate records and adhering to departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
  • Delivering exceptional patient care and contributing to a positive patient experience.
  • Working confidently and effectively with limited direct supervision, using your initiative while remaining within the scope of the role.
Who We're Looking For

We are looking for an experienced, proactive and patient‑focused individual who can work effectively within a busy Radiology and Imaging environment.

Essential Requirements

You will have:

  • Previous experience working as a Healthcare Assistant (HCA) or Radiology Assistant within a clinical or acute healthcare setting, ideally within Imaging or Radiology.
  • The ability to work effectively with limited direct supervision.
  • Experience preparing and supporting MRI and CT lists.
  • Experience supporting and coordinating patient flow within a clinical environment.
  • Experience assisting with interventional procedures.
  • Experience using IEP and the confidence to provide relevant IT support.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A caring and compassionate approach to patient care.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • A flexible, professional and organised approach to work.
Highly Desirable
  • Cannulation skills and previous cannulation experience.
  • NVQ Level 2, or equivalent, in a health‑related subject.
Working Hours

Permanent Contract

Part‑time: 18.75 hours per week, including rotational weekends

Working hours will be discussed at interview and will be based on departmental requirements, with shifts typically worked between 8:00am and 8:00pm, Monday to Sunday.
