Job description

Responsible for planning and performing diagnostic patient examinations using technical skills and radiation-emitting equipment to produce diagnostic radiographs.

Responsibilities

  • Review requisitions to determine proper room setup and radiation doses. Study views required for examination relative to patient’s anatomy and perform examinations.
  • Prepare and administer contrast agents (e.g., Barium) as required.
  • Provide nursing care to patients during and following examinations, including evaluating patient condition and calling codes if necessary.
  • Ensure radiation protection for self, patient, and staff by using protective devices and selecting appropriate radiation factors to minimize exposure while maintaining image quality.
  • Evaluate diagnostic films to ensure quality; repeat unsuitable films as necessary.
  • Assist radiologists during procedures and perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Train employees and students in daily procedures.

Job Qualifications and Specifications

  • An Associate’s degree in Radiologic Technology and at least six months of related experience or equivalent.
  • CPR Certification required.
  • ARRT certification is also required.
