Job description

Doncaster & Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS FT

To work at an advanced level of practice in CT, performing a comprehensive range of CT procedures on all sites.

To prioritise patients and organise workload from a variety of referral pathways to meet the needs of the service, and to contribute towards the efficient deployment of resources to ensure patients receive a safe , timely and accurate examination

To maintain and enhance clinical expertise, by ensuring high technical and professional standards at all times.

Provide expert opinion and advice, and contribute to the management of the service as required, in order to help find solutions to rapidly changing demands on the service.

Participate in CPD and demonstrate a commitment to achieving personal objectives by maintaining a portfolio and undertake study in the relevant professional area in line with HCPC registration requirements.

To contribute to training opportunities

Create an environment where the patient is central to all decision making with high quality compassionate care the prime objective, noting a positive experience with dignity and respect.

To ensure compliance with the Trusts visions, values, and strategic goals.

Main duties of the job

To act as a practitioner and operator under the Trusts IR(ME)Regulations (2017), and undertake a range of CT imaging examinations.

To perform I.V. cannulation and administration of contrast media or other drugs.

To maintain and enhance clinical expertise, by ensuring high technical and professional standards at all times.

To provide advice on the appropriateness of imaging requests in line with Royal College of Radiologist and IR(ME)R protocols.

To participate in Quality Assurance procedures in CT and ensure that high standards of imaging and patient care are maintained at all times.

To monitor workload and plan and prioritise own work and that of others to ensure that the Radiology targets are met.

To undertake flexible systems of work, including 'out of hours' and 'on call'.

To ensure the CT scanning environment and processes are responsive to the needs of patients and their carers, recognising the importance of privacy, dignity, equality and diversity.

Qualifications and Training
  • DCR or BSc Diagnostic Radiography
  • Health and Care Professions Council Registration
  • Documented evidence of CPD
  • Post Graduate Certificate (Masters Level) in CT Imaging
  • Certificate of competence in IV injections
Knowledge and Experience
  • Experience of working in an imaging department
  • Experience of 'out of hours' / on-call working
  • Experience across a range of imaging modalities
  • 1 year's post qualification experience
  • Demonstration of earlier interest in CT
  • Participation in QA
Personal Attributes and Skills
  • Able to act with empathy, compassion and sensitivity
  • Ability to communicate with patients/carers where there are barriers to understanding
  • Demonstrate good written/verbal skills with a wide audience
  • Aware of national guidance regarding breaches for diagnostic waits including ED targets and 2ww pathways
  • Adaptable to a changing environment, able to cope with the demands of evolving and sometimes unpredictable workload
