Job description

Our client is a world leader working at the forefront of next generation communications technology in various sectors including Telecommunications, Aerospace & Defence, and Critical Infrastructure.

As their business continues to grow in the UK Aerospace & Defence market, they are seeking an experienced Field Engineer with knowledge of RF Secure Communications. A military background is preferred but not essential.

The role involves:

  1. Working on secure communications systems for military and commercial customers, primarily supporting naval platforms.
  2. Operating independently with a high degree of autonomy, traveling to customer sites including Naval vessels within the UK and overseas.
  3. Installation, maintenance, and defect rectification of the full range of Integrated Communications Systems.
  4. Demonstrating strong analytical and technical skills, with an emphasis on fault finding.
  5. Receiving in-depth product training through internal programmes and on-site with Senior Engineers.

The Field Engineer reports to the head of the UK Projects and Solutions group. There are opportunities for career growth, such as becoming the Lead Engineer for multiple projects or transitioning into disciplines like Project Management or Engineering Management.

Requirements include:

  • Holding a Full UK driving license.
  • Eligibility for UK SC and DV Security Clearance.

Additional skills and experience:

  • Good working knowledge of RF electronics, ideally in a Military HF/VHF/UHF environment.
  • Experience in installing, maintaining, and repairing legacy/delivered communication systems.
  • Experience in developing system test strategies and documentation for validation, verification, and testing.
  • Understanding of fault-finding in TCP/IP Server-Based Systems/Networks.
