Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Company LLC seeks a Radiation Protection Adviser to support the Springfields Fuel Site near Preston. You will provide strategic, regulatory, and operational radiological support, interpret UK legislation, and advise on dosimetry, waste sentencing, incident response and safety improvements across the site.

Reporting to the Head of Radiation Protection, you will drive continuous improvement, promote a strong safety culture, and ensure compliant radiological operations while

Qualifications

• Current Certificate of Competence as an RPA (RPA2000).
• Strong knowledge of UK radiation legislation (IRR17, REPPIR, CDG19).
• Operational understanding of ALARP principles.
• Experience in uranium-based nuclear operations.
• Expertise in radiation protection instrumentation and waste management.
• RWA certification and knowledge of radioactive material transport.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the site's Radiation Protection Strategy.
• Interpret and apply UK regulations (IRR17, REPPIR, CDG19) to ensure compliance.
• Provide radiological advice for new processes and high-activity sources.
• Conduct radiation risk assessments and support ALARP-based controls.
• Oversee site compliance, performance metrics and incident reporting.
• Prepare training and communicate radiological risks to support operations.
• Lead investigations and drive safety culture and continuous improvement.
