Job description

As the Deputy Team Leader, you will work within the Maintenance Team and report to the Maintenance Team Leader, supporting the daily run of a team of 10-15 multi‑skilled technicians. The role is split between conducting preventative and reactive maintenance alongside supervising the team to ensure effective, timely provision of quality services. The remainder of your time will focus on leadership responsibilities, such as developing and mentoring team members and maximizing efficient use of resources.

Your responsibilities
  • Be responsible for the EHS performance of your team and their safe operating practices, contributing to the investigation and reporting of all near‑miss incidents to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Deliver and adhere to the maintenance plan and associated priorities, ensuring the team maximises plant production output through effective deployment of available resources.
  • Liaise with the Production department to minimise downtime by timely reporting of issues and coordinating corrective actions using the CMMS system.
  • Triage work requests in the CMMS system, ensuring adherence and alignment, and approve or deny requests as appropriate.
  • Provide detailed comments on team entries in CMMS, extracting necessary detail and reviewing booked hours daily.
  • Drive Lean initiatives in the department, ensuring all 5S checks and housekeeping tasks are completed and support continuous improvement projects.
Requirements for the role
  • Ideally hold a formal qualification in Engineering such as HNC/HND or an equivalent recognised training.
  • Lean qualification or demonstrable experience of Lean principles and methods.
  • Demonstrable understanding of EHS management principles.
  • Experience working with performance metrics to drive continuous improvement.
  • Experience supervising/ managing small teams.
  • Technical plant experience (desirable).
