Job summary

Colebrook Bosson Saunders in London is seeking an experienced R&D Workshop Technician to turn concepts into functional prototypes and fabricate components for fast-paced projects. You will work closely with design and engineering teams, create 3D models and drawings, set up 3-axis CNC milling and manual machining, and maintain a safe, productive workshop.

Ideally 5+ years in prototypes, CAD (SolidWorks), and CAM software (CAMWorks) are required.

Qualifications

  • Ideally 5+ years in workshop/manufacturing prototyping.
  • Proficient in 3D CAD and SolidWorks.
  • Experience with CAM software CAMWorks or similar.
  • Knowledge of materials for prototyping (steel, aluminium, plastic, wood).
  • Skilled with manual lathes and CNC machines.

Responsibilities

  • Apply engineering principles to support R&D and turn concepts into prototypes.
  • Collaborate with design and engineering teams to develop practical, buildable solutions that accelerate development.
  • Interpret sketches and drawings to build prototypes and assemblies.
  • Lead prototyping, modelmaking, and fabrication of parts for R&D projects.
  • Create 3D models, assemblies, and technical drawings using CAD to support prototype making.
  • Set up, program, and operate 3-axis CNC milling machines and precision tooling.
  • Maintain a safe, compliant workshop environment and coordinate repairs with the Workshop Manager.
  • Handle, organize, and manage raw materials, tooling, and inventory for efficient operations.
