Job summary

GE Vernova in the United Kingdom is seeking a motivated university student for a year-long Placement Internship in our Research & Innovation team. The role focuses on programming, process improvement, digital tools, and data analysis to support research workflows.

You will develop and improve tools using Python, help organize SharePoint and Microsoft 365 platforms, run market analyses, and document findings while collaborating with colleagues across R&D to drive practical improvements.

Qualifications

• Currently studying at university in engineering, computer science, data science, information systems, or related field.
• At least 18 years old and early in university studies.
• Basic to intermediate programming skills, in Python or other languages.
• Interest in digital tools, automation, process improvement, and data analysis.
• Ability to structure information clearly.
• Interest in collaboration platforms such as SharePoint, Microsoft 365, or similar tools.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication skills.
• Able to work independently while also collaborating with others.

Responsibilities

• Developing and improving new and existing tools using Python or other suitable programming languages.
• Learning and understanding internal processes and workflows to help improve how information is structured and shared online.
• Supporting the implementation and organization of online collaboration and document-sharing platforms, such as SharePoint or similar systems.
• Assisting in the development and continuous improvement of the newly launched Research Process.
• Conducting data analysis and developing scripts or tools to improve the speed and efficiency of market analysis.
• Collaborating with team members across R&D to identify opportunities for process and tool improvements.
• Documenting solutions, structures, and recommendations to support long-term use and development.
