Accountable Recruitment Limited in the North West is partnering with a respected accountancy and business advisory group to recruit an experienced R&D Tax Manager. The role offers hybrid working across North West offices including Manchester and Liverpool, with a salary of £50,000 - £60,000 DOE.

You will manage a portfolio of R&D tax clients, lead client meetings and prepare technical reports, ensuring robust, compliant claims and supporting documentation.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in R&D tax relief and claims.
• Strong HMRC knowledge and compliance with current guidance.
• Experience leading client meetings and senior stakeholder liaison.
• ATT, CTA, ACA or ACCA qualifications would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

We are partnering with a highly respected and growing North West accountancy and business advisory group to recruit an experienced R&D Tax Manager to join their specialist Tax team, paying £50,000 - £60,000 DOE

This is an excellent opportunity for an established R&D Tax professional looking to take ownership of a varied client With multiple offices across the North West, including Liverpool and Manchester, the firm offers flexibility around office location, hybrid working and genuine opportunities for career progression.

• Managing a portfolio of R&D tax clients, overseeing claims from initial engagement through to completion and submission.
• Leading client meetings to understand business activities, technical projects and qualifying R&D expenditure.
• Reviewing and preparing detailed technical reports, financial calculations and supporting documentation to substantiate R&D claims.
• Ensuring all claims are technically robust, commercially appropriate and compliant with current HMRC legislation and guidance.
• Reviewing work prepared by junior colleagues, providing technical guidance and supporting their ongoing development.
• Managing HMRC enquiries and compliance checks, preparing responses and supporting clients throughout the process.
• Working closely with the wider Tax, Accounts and Advisory teams to identify potential R&D opportunities within existing client portfolios.
• Keeping up to date with changes in R&D tax legislation, including the latest compliance requirements and HMRC guidance.
• Managing workloads, deadlines and client expectations to ensure assignments are delivered efficiently and to a high standard.
• Significant experience within R&D tax relief, ideally gained within an accountancy practice or specialist R&D tax consultancy.
• Proven experience managing R&D tax claims from initial client engagement through to submission.
• Strong technical knowledge of UK R&D tax legislation, including current HMRC compliance requirements and claim methodologies.
• Experience reviewing technical narratives, financial calculations and supporting documentation.
• Confidence managing client relationships, leading meetings and advising businesses on R&D tax matters.
• Experience dealing with HMRC enquiries or compliance checks.
• Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to interpret complex technical information and produce clear, accurate reports.
• A proactive, commercially minded approach with an interest in contributing to the development of a growing specialist tax team.
• ATT, CTA, ACA or ACCA qualifications would be advantageous, although candidates with substantial practical R&D experience will also be considered.
