R&D Scientist, Medical Devices (6-Month Contract)

Job summary

Cure Talent are delighted to partner with an established medical device manufacturer to recruit a Product Development Scientist on a 6-month fixed term contract. The role sits within the R&D function and offers potential for extension or a permanent move.

You will perform hands-on lab work across new product development, line extensions and design changes for sterile, single-use devices, ensuring compliance with regulatory and quality standards.

Qualifications

• A science-based degree is required or equivalent.
• Experience in medical devices is advantageous but not essential.
• Laboratory experience is helpful, particularly in physical or performance testing.
• Familiarity with design history files, design controls, and regulated quality systems (ISO 13485, ISO 14971, MDR or FDA) desirable.
• Strong organization and team collaboration abilities are required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct laboratory-based physical and performance testing in line with GLP where applicable.
• Support new product development, line extensions, design changes, and validation activities from concept to launch.
• Prepare and maintain design history files, FMEAs, design control records and regulatory documentation.
• Act as the R&D representative within cross-functional project teams, providing technical input.
• Manage multiple priorities and escalate project risks or timeline challenges as needed.
