Job summary

MacDermid Alpha Electronics Solutions, part of Element Solutions Inc, is seeking a curious R&D Scientist to develop and improve chemical products across the global business from our UK site. You will hands-on experiment, analyze data, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to translate ideas into commercial outcomes.

Qualifications

• Higher education in scientific subjects; a Master’s degree in materials science or chemistry is desirable.
• Previous laboratory experience in an industrial setting with polyurethane, epoxy, or silicone materials is desirable.
• Strong curiosity, methodical approach, and collaborative mindset.
• Ability to maintain accuracy and reproducibility; safety-minded.

Responsibilities

• Develop Coating, Potting & Thermal Interface materials.
• Conduct tensile, rheology and electrical screening tests and update quality databases.
• Perform routine application screening using automated spraying and dispensing equipment.
• Arrange calibration of equipment.
• Prepare samples and data packs to support marketing and sales teams.
• Create standard operating procedures, risk assessments and COSHH documentation.
• Monitor consumables and raw materials; coordinate replenishments and raise supplier requisitions.
• Maintain and update R&D databases.
• Maintain housekeeping and waste disposal standards.
• Follow Health and Safety policy and required training.
• Adhere to the company’s quality system and update data as applicable.
