Job summary

Cogito is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for our R&D Mechanical Engineering team at the Product Innovation Centre in Weymouth. You will maintain and manage applications of current and developing technology, and undertake engineering design, development and operation of printing solutions and related modules.

You will work across disciplines to identify risks, specify requirements, and drive improvements using a robust, evidence-based approach.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or Level 6 qualification with mid-level experience, OR Level 5 qualification (HND) with senior-level experience.
• Knowledge of product creation and change management processes.
• Knowledge of BS8888 and/or ISO8015.
• Experience in 3D CAD tools and EDM systems such as Teamcenter PLM.
• Experience in design and assembly of manufacturing processes, including costs and tolerances.
• Understanding of dynamic mechanical, electromechanical and mechatronic systems.

Responsibilities

• Identify operational risks and evaluate engineering solutions considering cost, quality, safety and reliability.
• Contribute to the design and development of engineering products, processes, systems and services.
• Prepare technical specifications and user requirements for improvements.
• Identify techniques and methods to undertake tasks efficiently.
• Drive continuous improvement using established processes.
• Use evidence-based approaches to investigate and solve problems and implement corrective actions.
• Review procedures and recommend improvements to reflect best practice.
• Extend knowledge of current and emerging engineering technology and apply it to tasks and projects.
