Job summary

ProTech Recruitment Ltd seeks an experienced R&D Manager to lead a multi-disciplinary engineering team (electronics, software, hardware, mechanical) in developing next-generation electronic lighting controls. You will own the end-to-end product development lifecycle from concept through to compliance and volume manufacturing.

This role balances strategic oversight with hands-on technical guidance in an agile SME setting, reporting to the MD.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of R&D management/leadership experience in electronic product development.
• Strong electronics and firmware background with embedded microcontrollers.
• Experience delivering full product lifecycle from concept to production.
• Solid understanding of EMC, RoHS, and electrical safety standards.
• Proficient with Altium and embedded development environments.
• Degree (BEng/MEng) in Electronics/Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, or similar.
• Experience in SME environments and agile hardware projects.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute the R&D roadmap and mentor internal engineering teams.
• Oversee hardware, firmware, and wireless/wired communications development.
• Ensure regulatory compliance testing with EMC, RoHS, and safety standards.
• Collaborate with Sales, Operations, and Procurement on NPI processes.
• Manage multiple projects with timelines, budgets, and quality targets.
• Support R&D tax credit submissions where applicable.
