This dynamic, lively, and diverse department possesses the knowledge and skills to manage research activities and processes smoothly and efficiently.
The post-holder will oversee research portfolios within specific clinical directorates or groups, working closely with research matrons or managers to prioritize study or trial set-ups. They will advise or act on wider study lifecycle requirements and will be supported by a Research Governance Specialist.
The post-holder may line-manage a Band 5 research coordinator or a Band 4 R&D administrator. Responsibilities include managing research approvals, staying updated on research regulations, developing SOPs and guidance documents, and occasionally providing research governance training to R&D and research staff. Experience in a clinical research setting is essential.
The R&D Department at Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust (GSTT) is a leading center for innovative research in London, with a nationally recognized research portfolio and infrastructure. It collaborates with King’s College London, hosts NIHR Programme and Project Grants, and supports various research schemes and clinical facilities. The department also hosts the South London Comprehensive Local Research Network (CLRN) and plays a significant role in the national research study portfolio and study accruals.
Full-time R&D staff are required to work in the office three days a week. All R&D Governance staff must work some time in the office and be available to visit our three research hospitals to collaborate with colleagues and support research activities.
