Job summary

Mursla Bio in the UK and Boston is seeking a Director of R&D to lead a multidisciplinary team and translate strategy into executable plans. You will drive robust biomarker development and diagnostic product programs, balancing experimental detail with strategic oversight.

You will report to the CSO, guiding roadmaps, project delivery and external collaborations in a small, fast-moving biotech environment focused on EvoLiver and related programmes.

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent in molecular biology, biochemistry, proteomics, cell biology or related field.
• Significant experience leading complex R&D programmes in a commercial setting.
• Proven track record of developing scientists in a multidisciplinary environment.
• Strong project and programme-management capability with milestones and risk handling.
• Experience with biomarkers, extracellular vesicles or multi-omics is highly valued.
• Experience collaborating with bioinformatics teams and interpreting multiomic data.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the multidisciplinary R&D team with clear accountability.
• Own delivery of the R&D roadmap with milestones and decisions.
• Provide scientific oversight across R&D programmes and biomarker development.
• Translate product requirements into R&D activities and specifications.
• Lead external collaborations with pharma, academia and clinical partners.
