Job summary

CT19 is recruiting an R&D Controls Engineer to join a multidisciplinary team developing next-generation hydrogen power solutions. Hybrid working considered in South Nottingham / Sheffield, with travel to sites as needed.

You'll own design, development and validation of advanced control systems from concept through prototype deployment. The role emphasizes solving complex control challenges, implementing PLCs and Siemens TIA Portal, and collaborating with electrical, mechanical and software

Qualifications

Degree in Electrical Engineering, Control & Systems Engineering, CS or related field; equivalent industry experience considered.
Experience programming PLCs and industrial control systems.
Strong understanding of control system design principles.
Experience integrating electrical and mechanical systems.
Familiar with full product development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

Design, develop and implement control systems for advanced energy applications.
Develop PLC software, HMIs and control architectures using Siemens TIA Portal.
Configure PLCs, HMIs and industrial control systems.
Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop high-performance control strategies.
Develop and optimise control algorithms to improve system efficiency, performance and reliability.
Carry out system integration, testing and validation activities.
Investigate and resolve control system issues during development and commissioning.
Produce technical documentation including functional specifications, test procedures and operating documentation.
Support modelling, simulation and performance analysis to optimise system behaviour.
