Job summary

H-Power is a UK-based clean energy company developing hydrogen power systems. We are seeking a Senior Electrical & Controls Engineer to join the Dunsfold engineering team and own electrical design across products.

This hands-on role covers electrical architecture, control panels, testing and commissioning, with collaboration across mechanical, process and test engineers. Experience in ATEX, safety reviews and CE/UKCA certification is highly valued.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Hands-on experience designing electrical and control systems for industrial machinery.
• Experience producing electrical schematics, control-panel layouts, wiring diagrams.
• Knowledge of LV distribution, cable sizing and component selection.
• Working knowledge of BS7671 and EN 60204.
• Experience using CAD software such as EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical or SolidWorks Electrical.
• Experience selecting and configuring PLC hardware, ideally Siemens.
• Experience in equipment build, testing, commissioning or troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of electrical design activities across new and existing products.
• Develop electrical architectures, single-line diagrams, schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Produce manufacturing documentation (panel layouts, cable schedules, terminal schedules).
• Select electrical equipment, protection devices, instrumentation and control-system hardware.
• Design electrical systems for hazardous-area applications (ATEX).
• Collaborate with mechanical, process, controls and test engineers throughout development.
• Support panel build, system integration, FAT, testing, commissioning and fault-finding.
• Prepare design specifications, requirements and compliance documentation.
• Support CE/UKCA certification and safety reviews (HAZID/HAZOP, FMEA, SIL, LOPA).
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers.
