Job summary

Recruitment Helpline is seeking an experienced Quarry Plant Service Engineer for Hemerdon Mine, Plymouth. The role is full-time and permanent with a salary of £65,000 per annum plus OTE.

You will join a team supporting a large processing contract at the Hemerdon Mine, near Plympton, working on quarry crushing and screening plant. Key responsibilities include preventive maintenance, fault finding, breakdown support, and compiling technical reports.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in mechanical engineering with knowledge in hydraulics, electrics and engine.
• Experience of servicing construction equipment is essential.
• Fault finding and problem solving skills required.
• Strong communication and people skills.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all site operational tasks are completed under Health & Safety paperwork and safely.
• Assist site with breakdowns as they occur.
• Carry out routine maintenance to prevent downtime.
• Compile technical reports following services and breakdowns.
• Liaise with colleagues to agree parts requirements and complete repairs.
• Complete plant breakdowns and repairs in a timely manner.
• Complete all plant equipment servicing and testing.
• Assist on plant installations and resolve on-site issues.
• Prepare refurbishment lists before plant removal/reinstallation.
• Collaborate with Service team to resolve ongoing issues.
• Assist operator training to optimise plant performance.

An excellent opportunity for an experienced Quarry Plant Service Engineer to join a well-established company.

Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent. Salary: £65,000 per annum plus OTE. Location: Hemerdon Mine, Plymouth.

About the Role

• The company has a large processing contract in the newly re-opened Hemerdon Mine, near Plympton. Hemerdon Mine produces tungsten, a precious-earth metal.
• Several experienced, enthusiastic and self-motivated Field Service Engineers are sought to complement the established team.
• We are looking for team players who will work to high standards in problem solving, fault-finding, service and repair on quarry crushing and screening plant.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all site operational tasks are completed under the correct Health & Safety paperwork and in a safe manner.
• Assist site with breakdowns as they occur.
• Carry out routine maintenance to prevent downtime.
• Compile technical reports following services and breakdowns.
• Liaise with other team members to agree parts requirements.
• Complete plant breakdowns and repairs in a timely manner.
• Complete all plant equipment servicing and testing.
• Assist on plant installations when required and resolve on-site issues during installations.
• Compile lists of refurbishment requirements prior to plant removal / re-installation.
• Liaise with Service team to resolve ongoing site operational / technical issues.
• Assist in site operator awareness training to optimise plant performance.

Skills & Experience

• Relevant engineering qualifications.
• CSCS Safe Pass (non essential) – optional.
• Quarry pass.
• Driving licence (essential).
• Vehicle maintenance experience.
• Previous Field Service Plant Fitter/Engineer experience essential.
• Crushing and screening plant experience essential.
• Experience of servicing construction equipment essential.
• Minimum 5 years in mechanical engineering with knowledge in hydraulics, electrics and engine.
• Problem solving and decision-making skills; excellent communication and people skills.
• Good planning and organisational skills; ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines with minimal supervision; self-motivated and able to work independently or as part of a team.
• Fault finding ability and ability to maintain positive working relationships.
