Job summary

CORMAC operates Castle Quarry in Cornwall and is seeking a Quarry operative to drive and operate vehicles and plant within a busy site. You will conduct a broad range of operational tasks, prioritise safety, and maintain vehicle records, while following environmental guidelines and reporting incidents.

The role requires NVQ2 or equivalent, health and safety awareness, and practical experience with mobile plant; a UK driving licence is essential.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of the Health & Safety at Work Act.
• Ability to achieve NVQ2 in a relevant discipline or equivalent relevant experience.
• Affable and polite showing good customer care skills.
• Sound team worker, adaptable and flexible.
• Demonstrate experience in mobile plant and machinery.
• Demonstrate good verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Drive / operate vehicles and plant in the Quarry.
• Undertake a broad range of operational tasks with mobile and static plant.
• Ensure the safety of yourself, colleagues and the public.
• Be responsible for PPE usage.
• Keep co-workers safe, follow procedures and report unsafe practice.
• Stop works when necessary and challenge unsafe practice.
• Report safety incidents including near misses.
• Ensure good environmental practices are observed.
• Maintain all driver / vehicle records.
