Job summary

Hills Quarry Products in Mortimer, Hampshire, is seeking a Quarry Operative to operate mobile plant and support quarry operations. This full-time, permanent role offers a competitive salary of £32,700.88 per year and 45 hours per week, with opportunities for progression within the Hills Group.

You will safely operate plant equipment (dumpers, loading shovels, 360 excavators), carry out basic maintenance checks, and assist with site coverage such as Foreman and Weighbridge Operator duties,

Qualifications

• Experience operating mobile plant (dumpers, loading shovel, 360 excavators) with certified tickets.
• NVQ Level 2 (SPMO) desirable.
• Knowledge of Quarry Regulations 1999 advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Operate quarry plant and machinery safely and efficiently, supporting day-to-day production of aggregates.
• Assist with maintenance and upkeep of fixed and mobile plant, reporting issues to minimise downtime.
• Provide site coverage (Foreman/Weighbridge Operator) as required to offer variety and development.

Join Our Team at Hills! We are looking for a Quarry Operative to join our team in Mortimer, Hampshire. This is a full-time, permanent role with a competitive salary and a fantastic benefits package.

What is the role all about?

As our Quarry Operative, you'll be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of mobile plant machinery, carrying out basic maintenance checks, and supporting quarry operations. The role may also involve working at other company sites when required, providing variety and development opportunities across the business.

What you will be doing:

• Operate quarry plant and machinery safely and efficiently, supporting the day-to-day production of high-quality sand and stone aggregates.
• Assist with the maintenance and upkeep of fixed and mobile plant, identifying and reporting any issues to minimise downtime.
• Step into key site support roles, including Foreman and Weighbridge Operator cover, offering variety and development opportunities within the team.

What we are looking for:

Essential:

• Previous experience using mobile plant including dumpers, loading shovel, and 360 excavators in a similar environment, holding certified tickets.

Desirable:

• NVQ/QCF Level 2 (SPMO).
• Mechanical knowledge of mobile plant.
• Awareness of the Quarry Regulations 1999.
