Job summary

Oxford Quantum Circuits (OQC) is building the future of quantum computing from Reading. You will join the Compiler and Runtime team to develop production-ready software that enables quantum hardware through Python and C++, LLVM, and related toolchains.

You will own software across the full lifecycle—from requirements and design through implementation, testing, and delivery. The role blends new feature work with maintaining and improving existing code, collaborating across engineers and

Qualifications

Strong Python and/or C++ programming skills.
Experience in compiler development.
Experience taking software projects or significant features through the full development lifecycle.
Strong understanding of core CS principles: algorithms, data structures, software architecture, OS.
Experience debugging technically complex issues in development/production.
Strong problem-solving and software quality focus.
Ability to communicate technical decisions clearly and collaborate with engineers.

Responsibilities

Own software development across the full lifecycle—from requirements to delivery.
Develop new compiler and runtime features in production-ready form.
Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to raise engineering capability.
Debug complex issues across development and production environments.
Balance new feature work with legacy code maintenance and upgrades.
Review and test code, mentor teammates, and share knowledge.
