Job summary

Oxford Quantum Circuits (OQC) is seeking a Quantum Engineer to develop hardware for practical quantum error correction. You will work on qubits, gates, readout and control systems, advancing prototyping, calibration and data analysis within the QEC Hardware Development team.

You will design experiments, characterise devices, and collaborate with engineers and scientists to push the hardware frontier. Occasional travel to conferences and collaborations is possible.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in physics, engineering or related field; PhD not required.
• Experience delivering research projects from design to testing and reporting.
• Strong Python skills for automation, data analysis and tooling.
• Hands-on experience with experimental physics systems or electronics.

Responsibilities

• Develop experimental measurement methods to characterise quantum error-correction components.
• Bring up and calibrate novel research devices and prototype hardware.
• Develop and maintain experimental-control software and data-analysis workflows.
• Build system-level understanding of control electronics and cryogenic infrastructure.
• Lead projects from design through to documentation and recommendations.
