Job summary

UKRI - UK Research and Innovation at Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, Harwell, Oxfordshire, seeks a Team Lead for Quantum Algorithms to guide a multidisciplinary group in developing algorithms, benchmarking, verification and error correction. You will shape strategy and collaborate internationally.

The role requires a PhD in quantum computing or related field, with a proven research track record and strong leadership. Applicants should be prepared to travel for collaborations and conferences.

Qualifications

• PhD level in quantum computing or related field.
• Experience with benchmarking, verification and error correction.
• Proven record leading research teams and delivering impactful results.
• Experience developing/implementing quantum algorithms and related workflows.

Responsibilities

• Lead the team developing quantum algorithms for quantum and hybrid workflows.
• Develop and deliver R&D activities in benchmarking, verification and error correction.
• Oversee workflows and tooling across the development lifecycle.
• Lead work to implement, test, and optimise algorithms on real processors/emulators.
• Act as technical authority for internal/external stakeholders on quantum algorithms.
