Job summary

OQC in London is seeking a Quantum Algorithm Engineer specialising in Detection to develop and evaluate quantum methods for detection, prediction and estimation workloads, and to establish credible evidence of performance on real hardware.

You will design experiments, analyze circuit cost, noise sensitivity and hardware portability, and help turn promising methods into repeatable capabilities for OQC's hybrid computing platform.

Qualifications

• Broad quantum algorithm expertise across kernels, variational models, estimation, optimisation or sampling.
• Strong algorithm analysis skills and resource estimation.
• Knowledge of quantum measurement strategies and impact on performance.
• Experience analyzing noise sensitivity under realistic hardware constraints.
• Understanding of quantum compilation and portability.
• Ability to design rigorous experiments demonstrating real hardware performance.

Responsibilities

• Develop quantum parent methods for detection, prediction and related workloads.
• Design measurement strategies and assess circuit cost, sample complexity, noise robustness and resource requirements.
• Analyse circuit cost, sample complexity, measurement requirements, noise robustness and portability.
• Benchmark theoretical expectations against evidence from real hardware and guide algorithm development and product decisions.
• Design controlled ablation studies to quantify exactly what individual quantum components contribute.
