Job summary

My client seeks a Quantity Surveyor / Project Manager to join their office on the SE London / Kent borders, handling cost management across high-value residential, education, healthcare and some commercial projects. The role suits a QS with project management interest and a couple of years post-graduate experience.

You should be working towards APC to become RICS qualified and hold a recognised UK QS qualification.

Qualifications

• Two years post-graduation experience with a consultancy or PQS.
• UK quantity surveying qualification (BSc or equivalent) and APC progress toward RICS.
• Experience in cost control, contract administration, procurement and tendering.
• Ability to prepare cost plans, budgets and tender documentation; procure contractors.
• Strong written and spoken communication with all stakeholders.

Job description

THE ROLE

My client seeks a Quantity Surveyor / Project Manager who is approaching taking the APC to become RICS qualified to join them in their office in SE London / Kent borders area.

Projects are generally of high value and there is a particular need currently for people to work on cladding remediation projects for large residential buildings along with other residential, education, healthcare and some commercial projects.

You will either be a Quantity Surveyor with an interest in project management and with a couple of years or more post graduation experience or you may be a Project Manager who has a good handle on the cost management side of projects and with a couple of years experience.

THE COMPANY

My client is a long established busy firm of multi disciplinary consultants with several offices.

THE CANDIDATE

You will either be a Quantity Surveyor with an interest in Project Management or a Project Manager with some experience of cost management.

You must have at least two years post graduation experience of working with another firm of consultants / PQS.

You should be working towards taking the APC towards becoming RICS qualified.

You will need to have a recognised UK qualification in Quantity Surveying i.e. BSc in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics or Construction Project Management.

You need to have experience of cost control, contract administration, procurement and tendering along with financial reporting throughout the project lifecycle.

You must be able to prepare cost plans, budgets and tender documentation plus procure contractors and suppliers.

You should have used JCT contracts.

You need to be able to do contract administration, organise meetings, take minutes etc.

You will ideally be keen to do a mix of quantity surveying and project management.

You should have excellent communication skills, both written and spoken to deal with people at all levels.
