Job summary

Henley Chase is seeking a Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager for office fit-out projects in Hertfordshire. You will oversee commercial performance, budgets, valuations and procurement from pre-construction to final account, collaborating with PMs and site teams on high-quality fit-out work.

The role offers a permanent position, salary £50,000-£80,000 per annum DOE, and a Hertfordshire-based office/project environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years' experience as a Quantity Surveyor in construction or fit-out
• Experience on office fit-out, refurbishment or commercial interiors projects
• Strong knowledge of subcontractor procurement and package management
• Experience managing variations, valuations and final accounts
• Good understanding of construction contracts and commercial processes
• Strong commercial and financial awareness
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects or packages independently
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills

We are currently seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager to join an established and growing fit-out contractor on a permanent basis, working on high-quality office fit-out and refurbishment projects across Hertfordshire and the surrounding areas.

The Role

You will be responsible for the commercial management of office fit-out projects from pre-construction through to completion and final account.

Key responsibilities include:

• Managing the commercial performance of projects
• Preparing budgets, forecasts and cost reports

• Preparing and agreeing valuations and applications for payment
• Managing variations, change and commercial risk
• Reviewing and negotiating subcontractor accounts
• Cost control and cash-flow management

Experience Required

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• 3+ years' experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within construction or fit-out
• Experience working on office fit-out, refurbishment or commercial interiors projects
• Strong knowledge of subcontractor procurement and package management
• Experience managing variations, valuations and final accounts
• Good understanding of construction contracts and commercial processes
• Strong commercial and financial awareness
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects or packages effectively
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
• A proactive approach and the ability to work independently

Candidates with experience as a Quantity Surveyor, Senior Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager will be considered.

Relevant qualifications such as RICS, CIOB, HNC/HND or a degree in Quantity Surveying/Construction would be advantageous but are not essential where the candidate has strong relevant experience.
