Job summary

Ferrovial Construction UK invites applications for a Quantity Surveyor Intern (Year Industry Placement) starting September 2026 on the HS2 project, to assist with commercial management and contract administration under supervision.

The NextGen Internship develops personal, professional and technical skills through a blended approach, with exposure to cost control, tender analysis and procurement.

Qualifications

• Currently studying a Degree or Masters in Quantity Surveying.
• Excellent written and oral English language.
• Excellent numerical skills.
• Must have right to work in the UK by the start of employment and for the entirety of the internship programme.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Proactive approach to learning and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Assist with tender enquiries, analysis of quotations and subcontractor procurement.
• Assist in the management of day-to-day bill of quantities for allocated projects.
• Help analyse subcontractor valuations and cost control.
• Liaise with procurement to ensure compliance with financial parameters.
• Assist in the production and monitoring of applications, final accounts, payment certificates and change control.
• Assist in checking agreed subcontract applications and accounts.
• Maintain document control and promote health and safety compliance.

Quantity Surveyor Intern (Year Industry Placement)

Ferrovial Construction is looking for a Quantity Surveyor Intern for a one-year industry placement on the HS2 project, starting September 2026, to assist with commercial management and contract administration.

The role

The Ferrovial NextGen Internship programme is designed to develop personal, professional and technical skills through a blended approach. You will work under the supervision of our Senior Quantity Surveyors.

Key Responsibilities

• A large part of your work will involve tender enquiries, analysis of quotations and subcontractor procurement.

Key Accountabilities

• To assist in the management of the day-to-day bill of quantities for the relevant sections of allocated projects to ensure financial efficiencies
• Help analyse subcontractor valuations
• To be focused on cost control in line with the business's financial systems
• To liaise with the procurement teams as required to ensure compliance with financial parameters
• Assist in the production and monitoring of applications, final accounts, payment certificates and change control
• Assist in checking agreed sub-contract applications and accounts
• Document control
• Contribute to the achievement of health and safety in accordance with company policy
• To promote company values in all dealings with other employees, clients, subcontractors and other external contacts
