Job summary

AWD online in Barnsley is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to take commercial ownership across nationwide construction projects in a specialist structural steel environment. You will manage cost control, risk management and value throughout the project lifecycle.

The role involves managing subcontract accounts, valuations, variations and providing commercial guidance to clients and teams on site, with exposure to forecasts and final accounts.

Qualifications

• Essential: Commercial and contractual knowledge relevant to construction projects.
• Essential: Ability to communicate effectively with clients, subcontractors and internal colleagues.
• Desirable: Previous structural steel industry experience.
• Desirable: Relevant HND (or equivalent) or degree.
• Desirable: Professional membership of RICS.

• Commercial Project Management: Manage all commercial aspects across multiple projects nationwide.
• Subcontract Documentation: Analyse and agree subcontract terms and conditions, warranties and bonds.
• Valuations, Variations and Claims: Investigate, prepare and submit variations, claims and measures for interim valuations and final accounts.
• Cost and Revenue Monitoring: Monitor cost and revenue performance and compile cost and cashflow forecasts.
• Commercial and Contractual Advice: Provide commercial and contractual guidance to internal colleagues and external clients.
• Client and Site Liaison: Attend sites nationwide and liaise with clients and subcontractors.

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: 37.5 Hours per Week, Monday to Thursday 08:30–17:00 and Friday 08:30–15:45
