Job summary

National Gas Transmission PLC is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to manage all financial and contractual aspects of construction projects across the West Region. You will provide cost estimation, planning, contract management and financial oversight to ensure projects finish on time, within budget and to required quality standards.

The role requires NEC contract experience, leadership capabilities and the ability to support tender evaluation and risk management.

Qualifications

• BSc Quantity Surveying or equivalent degree.
• Experience with NEC contracts and option structures.
• Demonstrated leadership in contract and project management.
• Experience supervising quantity surveyors.

Responsibilities

• Provide commercial support to the PM and manage contractual relationships.
• Administer multiple contracts within a defined portfolio.
• Oversee spend, forecast spend, and ensure alignment with governance.
• Support risk management and maintain the risk register.
• Assist tender evaluation, negotiation, and contract audits.
• Lead dispute resolution and mentor junior QS staff.

About the role

A Quantity Surveyor manages all financial and contractual aspects of construction projects, providing cost estimation and planning, contract management, financial oversight, risk management, and ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations. They support tender evaluation, negotiate contracts, audit contractor records, and prepare detailed reports to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

What you'll be doing

• Commercial support to the PM in managing and administering all contractual relationship
• Contract Management – manage multiple contracts within a defined portfolio
• Financial Management – manage spend to date and forecast spend inline with contract terms and NGT governance
• Risk Management – support the risk management process and the continual development of the Risk Register with the PM
• Tender evaluation – support the evaluation and negotiation process, providing professional advice
• Dispute Resolution – Lead dispute resolution efforts by providing professional advice
• Support & mentor other QS & JQS’s
