Job summary

National Gas is seeking a Junior Quantity Surveyor to support commercial delivery across the region. This hybrid role involves 2–3 days on site with travel to North Wales, Gloucester, Manchester and Hampshire, with a West Midlands location convenient.

You’ll work with project and commercial teams to control costs, maximise value, and meet client expectations throughout the project lifecycle. A relevant degree and full UK driving licence are preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Quantity Surveyor, Junior Quantity Surveyor, or Assistant Quantity Surveyor.
• Strong cost management, reporting and project financial controls knowledge.
• Excellent numerical and analytical abilities.
• Clear communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites.
• Desirable NEC contracts knowledge.

Responsibilities

£44,642 to £52,519 + up to 6% bonus

About The Role

As a Junior Quantity Surveyor, you'll play a key role in supporting the commercial delivery of projects across the region. You'll work closely with project and commercial teams to ensure projects are delivered efficiently, commercially, and in line with client expectations.

This is a hybrid role with travel to project sites typically required 2–3 days per week, with the remainder of your time spent working remotely. Projects are currently located across North Wales, Gloucester, Manchester and Hampshire, so candidates should be comfortable travelling throughout these areas as required. Given the geographic spread of projects, a location within the West Midlands (e.g. Birmingham, Solihull, Coventry or the Warwick/Leamington Spa area) would provide particularly convenient access.

Key Skills & Experience

• Previous experience in a Quantity Surveyor, Junior Quantity Surveyor, or Assistant Quantity Surveyor role.
• Knowledge of cost management, commercial reporting, and project financial controls.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
• A proactive attitude and desire to learn and develop.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Willingness to travel regularly to project sites.
• Management of NEC contracts.

Desirable Experience

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related discipline.
• Experience within construction, civil engineering, infrastructure, or utilities environments.
• Working towards, or an interest in pursuing, professional accreditation such as RICS.
• Experience supporting projects through various stages of the project lifecycle.
