Role Summary
We are seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join our Green Funding Solutions team. Green Funding Solutions works with local authorities and housing associations to tackle fuel poverty, delivering large-scale retrofit programmes for social housing. Using government funding schemes, the team makes homes warmer and more energy‑efficient, and has established itself as a market leader, recognised with multiple regional and national awards.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce initial cost plans, detailed estimates, and ongoing budget control.
- Track costs against budgets, analyse cost performance, and compile monthly P&L and progress reports.
- Conduct cost analysis, value engineering, and risk/mitigation assessments.
- Prepare tender documents (BoQs, specifications), evaluate bids, and support contractor selection.
- Draft, administer, and manage contracts (JCT, NEC), including variations, claims, notices, quotations, and dispute handling.
- Negotiate with suppliers/contractors and ensure procurement aligns with E&ON's standards.
- Assess progress, certify interim payments, raise applications for payment, and agree final accounts.
- Manage subcontractor applications/invoices and process payments via internal systems (e.g., SAP).
- Prepare CQR documentation, identify best-value options, and support insurance claim assessments.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, consultants, and internal teams, providing commercial advice and updates.
- Visit contractor/supplier offices and sites to undertake valuations, verify progress, and identify variations or delays.
- Support resourcing discussions and customer complaint resolution in line with company procedures.
- Manage large contracts through SAP, including requisitions and payment releases.
- Monitor overall project commercial performance and maintain accurate financial and contractual documentation.
Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent qualification in quantity surveying or a related commercial discipline.
- Experience across Construction, M&E, and Civil Engineering sectors with strong knowledge of construction law.
- Proven financial, commercial, and departmental management capability.
- Skilled in tender assessment, negotiation, specification writing, and contract negotiation.
- Strong communication, influencing, and stakeholder-management abilities.
- Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills with a strategic approach to supply chain management.
- Able to work to tight deadlines with a proactive, adaptable mindset.
- Proficient in IT systems and quick to learn new tools.>
- Full UK driving licence.
