Job summary

Curve Recruitment are partnering with a respected main contractor to recruit a Quantity Surveyor in central Hertfordshire. You will join the commercial team in Stevenage, handling cost plans, budgets, procurement and contract administration.

The role requires a degree in Quantity Surveying and proven main contractor experience, with a focus on profitability, risk management and client liaison. Competitive salary and steady project pipeline offered.

Qualifications

  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent).
  • Proven experience as Quantity Surveyor in a main contractor environment.
  • Strong commercial acumen with ability to manage risk and drive profitability.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Confident communicator with strong stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost plans, budgets and forecasts.
  • Monitor and control project expenditure to protect margin.
  • Produce cost analysis and variance reporting, flag risks and opportunities.
  • Lead subcontractor procurement, tender evaluation and package negotiation.
  • Administer and manage contracts per terms.
  • Act as principal commercial contact for clients and stakeholders.
  • Build strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Oversee valuations, variations and final accounts; ensure contractual compliance.

Quantity Surveyor

£60,000 - £75,000 per annum

Curve Recruitment are proud to be partnering with a highly respected main contractor in their search for an accomplished Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team in central Hertfordshire.

Our client delivers a wide range of complex, high-value projects across the commercial, education, industrial, retail and residential sectors throughout the Home Counties and into London. Their work is varied, technically demanding and backed by a strong base of repeat clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Preparing detailed cost plans, budgets and financial forecasts
  • Monitoring and controlling project expenditure to protect margin and performance
  • Producing detailed cost analysis and variance reporting, identifying commercial risks and opportunities
  • Leading subcontractor procurement, tender evaluation and package negotiation
  • Administering and managing contracts in accordance with agreed terms
  • Acting as a principal commercial contact for clients and stakeholders
  • Building and maintaining strong, collaborative relationships with subcontractors and suppliers
  • Overseeing valuations, variations and final accountsEnsuring full compliance with contractual, regulatory and company standards
About You
  • Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
  • Proven experience operating as a Quantity Surveyor within a main contractor environment
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to manage risk and drive profitability
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Confident communicator with strong stakeholder management capability
  • Organised and self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong understanding of construction processes and contract forms (JCT and/or NEC advantageous)
