Job summary

Build Recruitment Limited is seeking a qualified Quantity Surveyor in Southampton to lead financial and commercial control on painting and refurbishment contracts for housing associations and local authorities. The role focuses on delivering projects from inception through final accounts, ensuring profitability and compliance.

You will manage tenders, cost reporting, and subcontract procurement while fostering strong supplier relationships and contributing to health and safety compliance.

Qualifications

  • Professional qualification (HNC/HND/Degree/Diploma or equivalent).
  • Experience of painting or refurbishment contracts (essential).
  • Knowledge of bills of quantities, schedules of rates, and design & build contracts.
  • Proven experience in commercial management and subcontract procurement.
  • Strong reporting and IT skills, especially Excel.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Collaborative approach, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Measurement, pricing and evaluation of tenders.

Job Title: Quantity Surveyor – Property Services
Location: Southampton (regional office-based with site visits)
Salary: £45,000 – £60,000 car allowance, fuel card & bonus scheme

The Opportunity

We are working with a leading property services contractor who deliver planned maintenance and refurbishment projects across the South of England. They are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their Southampton team, focusing on delivering painting and decorating contracts for housing associations and local authorities.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially driven professional to take ownership of contracts from inception to completion, ensuring projects are delivered profitably and to the highest standards.

The Role

As Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing and controlling all financial and technical aspects of multiple contracts. Your role will include:

  • Measurement, pricing and evaluation of tenders

About You
