Job summary

Murphy is recruiting for Quantity Surveyors and Senior Quantity Surveyors to work in the energy sector on projects based in and around London and the South West. The role involves valuation preparation, cost reporting, contract administration and change management across EPC projects.

Applicants should have an HND/Degree and be registered with RICS/ICES or working towards chartership. A strong knowledge of NEC forms and measurement methods is essential.

  • Experience in commercial roles (Assistant QS, QS).
  • Registered with RICS/ICES and working towards chartership.
  • Excellent knowledge of NEC contracts and Standard Methods of Measurement.

Responsibilities

  • Aid in internal commercial reporting and reports.
  • Prepare valuations/applications for payment with full documentation.
  • Manage subcontractor/supplier accounts and final accounts.
  • Administer subcontractor/supplier payments and registers.
  • Handle contract administration and change management.
  • Identify commercial risks, opportunities and value engineering.
  • Measure quantities according to standard methods.

Murphy is recruiting for Quantity Surveyors and Senior Quantity Surveyors to work within our Energy sector on several projects based in and around London and the South West.

A day in the life of a Murphy Quantity Surveyor
  • Aid in the internal commercial reporting and any other reports which may be required.
  • Prepare Valuations/Applications for Payment with full documentation in accordance with the contract
  • Control of Cost Reports to the Client with contractually compliant documentation
  • Preparation and management of subcontract and material procurement schedules
  • Administration of subcontractor/supplier accounts from the preparation of detailed requisitions, monitoring, and authorisation of subcontract payments through to agreement of final accounts
  • Undertake the contract administration, including change management and maintain associated registers.
  • Identifying commercial risks, opportunities, value engineering and change
  • Use the cost allocation/coding which satisfies both internal and external requirements.
  • Measurement of quantities in accordance with the standard methods of measurement as required.
  • Assist in the preparation of project final accounts.
  • Drafting of subcontracts including professional services.

  • HND/Degree qualification
  • Proven experience within a Commercial role i.e., Assistant Quantity Surveyor, Quantity Surveyor, or a similar role.
  • Registered with RICS / ICES and working towards chartership.
  • Excellent knowledge of Standard Forms of Contract (NEC) and Standard Methods of Measurement
