Job summary

Murphy is recruiting a Senior Quantity Surveyor to support energy projects at the Uxbridge Moor Substation. The role focuses on commercial governance, valuations, subcontract management, and cost reporting across NEC-based contracts.

Qualified candidates will hold a HND/Degree and have proven senior QS experience, with RICS/ICES progression and civil engineering project exposure. Murphy offers a comprehensive package and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

• HND/Degree qualification is required.
• Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or times-served Quantity Surveyor aiming to step up.
• Solid knowledge across NEC contracts.
• Registered with RICS / ICES and working towards chartership.
• Experience on civil engineering and/or major construction projects.

Responsibilities

• Ensure site team adheres to group procedures and governance.
• Prepare valuations/applications for payment with full documentation per contract.
• Oversee cost reports to the client with contractually compliant documentation.
• Manage subcontract and material procurement schedules.
• Administer subcontractor/supplier accounts from detailed requisitions to final accounts.
• Handle contract administration including change management and maintain registers.
• Identify commercial risks, opportunities, value engineering and change.
• Use cost allocation/coding meeting internal and external requirements.
• Measure quantities per standard methods of measurement.

A day in the life of a Murphy Senior Quantity Surveyor

• Ensure the site team adheres to group procedures and governance
• Management of internal commercial reporting and any other reports which may be required
• Preparation of Valuations/Applications for Payment with full supporting documentation in accordance with the contract
• Oversee Cost Reports to the Client with contractually compliant supporting documentation
• Management of subcontract and material procurement schedules
• Administration of subcontractor/supplier accounts from the preparation of detailed requisitions, monitoring and authorisation of subcontract payments through to agreement of final accounts
• Undertake the contract administration, including change management and maintain associated registers
• Identifying commercial risks, opportunities, value engineering and change
• Use the cost allocation/coding which satisfies both internal and external requirements
• Measurement of quantities in accordance with the standard methods of measurement as required
