About the role

Quantity Surveyor - Balfour Beatty (@one Alliance)

@one Alliance is a collaboration between Anglian Water and seven industry-leading partners: Balfour Beatty, Barhale, Binnies, MMB, MWH Treatment, Skanska, and SWECO. We deliver over half of Anglian Water's capital investment program.

As we enter AMP8, our most ambitious Asset Management Period, we are preparing for our largest project yet. This is a unique opportunity to drive industry change, set global standards, and foster career growth. We are looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join our Commercial team on this journey of excellence within the Water Non-Infrastructure sector.

As a Quantity Surveyor in the @one Alliance, you will act as the commercial conscience of the integrated delivery team, providing support to both the management and on-site teams. Your responsibilities include controlling costs, maximizing value, minimizing liabilities, and ensuring quality and safety standards. You will also oversee compliance with Alliance and Anglian Water governance procedures.

What you'll be doing

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of commercial and cost management for projects assigned by the Project Commercial Manager.
  • Implement robust cost management processes with accurate and timely reporting and analysis to support commercial decisions.
  • Ensure all project team members understand contractual arrangements to meet client and partner requirements.
  • Collaborate with the delivery team to identify, implement, and monitor efficiency plans throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Maintain proper records, including final accounts, for audits and cost assurance.

Who we're looking for

Skills, experience, and behaviors:

  • Extensive experience in cost management.
  • A degree (or equivalent) in engineering, management, or a related discipline is beneficial.
  • A passion for pursuing a career in Commercial Management.
  • Deep knowledge of construction and safety, with the confidence to challenge processes and improve commercial practices.
