Streamline Search in Newcastle upon Tyne is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to own the commercial management of multiple construction projects from pre‑construction through to final account. You will lead cost control, valuations and reporting, working closely with internal teams, subcontractors and clients to maximise profitability while maintaining high standards of governance.

The role requires a degree in Quantity Surveying or substantial equivalent experience, a proven track record

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Quantity Surveyor in construction.
• Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Experience acting as commercial lead is essential.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for site travel.

Our client is a well-established construction company based in the Newcastle upon Tyne area, delivering complex and varied projects across the commercial, retail, heritage and education sectors. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to take ownership of the commercial management of multiple projects from pre‑construction through to final delivery.

Reporting directly to the Commercial Director, the successful candidate will play a key role in driving project success, ensuring strong financial control and adding value across a range of high‑profile schemes. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor who enjoys working collaboratively within a high‑performing team environment.

Position Remuneration

• Salary of £60,000 - £70,000 depending on experience

Position Overview

• Support contract administration and commercial decision‑making throughout the project lifecycle
• Identify commercial risks and implement effective mitigation strategies
• Maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders, providing commercial guidance and support

Position Requirements

• Proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry
• Previous experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
• Experience acting as a commercial lead is essential
• Degree-qualified with a minimum of 4 years' relevant experience, or non‑degree qualified with at least 7 years' relevant experience
• Strong commercial awareness with a sound understanding of cost control and project financial management
• Highly organised with a methodical approach and strong attention to detail
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle due to regional travel requirements
