Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in Manchester is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to deliver cost planning, estimating, and budget management across complex infrastructure programmes. You will work with clients, project managers, engineers, and contractors to ensure robust cost control and value for money across the project lifecycle.

The role requires experience in construction or infrastructure, strong commercial governance, and knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 contracts.

Responsibilities

• Deliver cost planning, estimating and budget management from feasibility to final account.
• Administer NEC contracts, including early warnings and changes.
• Prepare cost forecasts, cashflows and monthly reports.
• Support procurement: tender docs and contract prep.
• Manage contractor accounts: valuations, variations, claims, final accounts.
• Provide commercial advice to support project decisions.
• Build relationships with clients and supply chain.
• Support value management and cost assurance.

Overview

As a Quantity Surveyor in our Complex Projects team based in Manchester, you will provide high-quality commercial and cost management support across complex and high-profile infrastructure programmes. You will work collaboratively with clients, project managers, engineers, and contractors to ensure robust cost control, strong commercial governance, and value for money throughout the project lifecycle.

Overview

As a Quantity Surveyor in our Complex Projects team based in Manchester, you will provide high-quality commercial and cost management support across complex and high-profile infrastructure programmes. You will work collaboratively with clients, project managers, engineers, and contractors to ensure robust cost control, strong commercial governance, and value for money throughout the project lifecycle.

Your role

• Deliver cost planning, estimating, and budget management from feasibility through to final account.
• Administer and manage NEC contracts, including early warnings, compensation events, and change control.
• Prepare accurate cost forecasts, cashflows, and monthly commercial reports.
• Support procurement activities including tender documentation, analysis, and contract preparation.
• Manage contractor accounts, including valuations, variations, claims, and final accounts.
• Provide commercial advice and challenge to support informed project decision-making.
• Build effective relationships with clients, stakeholders, and supply chain partners.
• Support value management, benchmarking, and cost assurance activities.

About You

• Experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within construction or infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of commercial management and cost control processes.
• Working knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 contracts.
• Ability to analyse cost data and communicate commercial risks clearly.
• Excellent stakeholder management and collaborative working skills.
• Degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
• Working towards or holding RICS (or equivalent) accreditation is desirable.
