Rogers McHugh Recruitment in South Manchester is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to own the commercial management of multiple projects across the North West, from procurement through to final account.

The role requires a Quantity Surveying related degree and typically around 10 years of experience, with a strong grasp of JCT contracts and the ability to manage several projects concurrently, including occasional travel across the North West.

• Be organized and able to move between different schemes while maintaining clear commercial understanding across projects.
• Collaborate closely with operational teams, subcontractors and clients to support full commercial delivery.

About you

If you are an experienced Quantity Surveyor who likes having ownership of your projects and managing the commercial side properly from procurement through to final account, this could be a good opportunity for you.

You will be joining an established construction business from their South Manchester office, working across multiple projects throughout the North West.

Ideally, your background will be within industrial or commercial construction. That is not essential if you have strong transferable experience from another construction sector and can demonstrate that you understand the commercial management of projects.

You will ideally live within around an hour's commute of South Manchester and be comfortable travelling to projects across the North West when required.

The salary is £50,000 to £55,000 per annum, plus car allowance, healthcare and pension.

Your experience

• You will need a Quantity Surveying related degree and ideally around 10 years of industry experience.
• You should have a good understanding of JCT contracts and subcontracts and be comfortable taking commercial responsibility for your own projects.
• Your experience should include procurement, subcontractor management, valuations, variations, forecasting and cost reporting.
• You will also need experience managing the commercial requirements of several projects concurrently. This is important as you will not simply be concentrating on one project at a time.
• Industrial or commercial construction experience would be preferred, although the business is open to considering Quantity Surveyors from other sectors where the skills and project experience are genuinely transferable.

What you will be doing with your experience

• As you will be looking after multiple projects concurrently, you need to be organised and comfortable moving between different schemes while maintaining a clear understanding of where each one stands commercially.
• You will work closely with the operational teams, subcontractors and clients, giving you involvement across the full commercial delivery of your projects rather than being restricted to one part of the Quantity Surveying process.
• This is an opportunity to take genuine ownership of your projects, make commercial decisions and play an important role in their successful delivery.

About the business

You will be joining an established construction business delivering projects across the industrial and commercial sectors.

The role will be based from their South Manchester office, with projects across the North West, so it is important that you are based within a reasonable commute and comfortable travelling to sites when required.

They are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor who can take ownership of their workload, manage several projects at the same time and bring a strong understanding of commercial construction.
