Job summary

ASSA ABLOY in Lisburn, Northern Ireland, is seeking a qualified Quantity Surveyor to manage all commercial and contractual aspects of construction projects. You will work with Contract Managers, Finance, and clients from tender through final account settlements.

The role requires a minimum of five years' QS experience within construction, strong understanding of NEC3 and JCT contracts, excellent Excel skills, and the ability to travel.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Quantity Surveyor with at least 5 years' experience in construction or building products.
  • Strong commercial awareness and financial management capability.
  • Sound understanding of NEC3 and JCT contracts.
  • Ability to read drawings and schedules and interpret project data.

Responsibilities

  • Support tendering and contract negotiation through risk management and analysis.
  • Review and negotiate customer contract terms to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Develop, monitor and manage project budgets.
  • Manage contract variations and maximise project profitability.
  • Handle customer contractual correspondence and mitigate commercial risk.
  • Negotiate and agree final accounts.
  • Produce financial forecasts and monitor project profitability.

About the Role

As Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for all commercial and contractual aspects of our construction projects. Working closely with Contract Managers, Finance teams and clients, you will provide expert commercial support from tender stage through to final account settlement.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Supporting tendering and contract negotiation processes through effective risk management and commercial analysis.
  • Reviewing and negotiating customer contract terms to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Developing, monitoring and managing project budgets.
  • Managing contract variations and identifying opportunities to maximise project revenue and profitability.
  • Managing customer contractual correspondence and mitigating commercial risk.
  • Negotiating and agreeing final accounts.
  • Producing financial forecasts and monitoring project profitability.
  • Managing the commercial aspects of subcontractor agreements and budgets.
What We're Looking For
  • Essential Qualified Quantity Surveyor and minimum 5 years' Quantity Surveying experience within the construction or building products sector.
  • Strong commercial awareness and financial management capability.
  • Sound understanding of construction contracts, including NEC3 and JCT.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings and project schedules.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Willingness to travel and build strong customer relationships.
  • Desirable Experience using ERP systems.
