Job summary

Randstad Construction and Property is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the established team working on a Reactive & Small Scheme Framework in Sheffield. You will be responsible for a portfolio of works, lead the Commercial team, and provide guidance on contractual matters.

The role requires a degree in Quantity Surveying and 3+ years of QS experience, with strong communication and leadership skills. Rail experience is desirable and interpretation of client needs is essential.

Responsibilities

• Take commercial responsibility for a portfolio of works.
• Manage, train and support a Commercial team with regular progress reviews.
• Advise on commercial and contractual matters, including drafting correspondence.
• Produce formal reports for the quarterly Commercial board.
• Monitor contract compliance against statutory requirements.
• Develop client relationships and improve customer satisfaction.
• Oversight of costs against budgets; monitor financial reporting systems.
• Carry out monthly financial reviews and forecast cost, sales and margin.
• Prepare and submit valuations and payments to secure cash collection.
• Identify financial risks and opportunities and propose mitigations.
• Coordinate procurement and sub-contractor activity with supply chain.
• Assist with tenders in formulating and reviewing documentation.

My high profile tier one civil engineering client is looking for an experienced senior quantity surveyor to join their established team in Sheffield.

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor within the Commercial team, you will be working on the Reactive & Small Scheme Framework.

Candidate Responsibilities:

• Take commercial responsibility for a portfolio of works
• Manage, train and provide support to a dedicated Commercial team, carrying out regular catch ups on their progress
• Provide advice to the Commercial team and Project staff, on Commercial and contractual matters, including reviewing and drafting of correspondence
• Manage and produce formal reports for inclusion in the quarterly Commercial board report
• Monitor contract compliance against statutory requirements
• Develop client relationships, achieving a progressive improvement in customer satisfaction
• Oversee and monitor contract costs against agreed budgets
• Develop and monitor the use of cost and financial reporting systems
• Carry out monthly/periodic financial reviews (CVR's) on portfolio/multiple projects and forecast final outturn values for cost, sales and margin
• Prepare and submit periodic valuations/application for payments ensuring that Client payment and cash collection is achieved in accordance with the contract
• Identify potential commercial/financial risk and opportunity and evaluate options to mitigate/realise.
• Oversee the procedures and liaise with the supply chain for the procurement, negotiation and placing of sub contract and supplier orders
