Job summary

Howells Solutions Limited is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor for retrofit projects and decarbonisation work in the Northamptonshire/Bedfordshire region. You will join a team delivering social housing refurbishment programmes, including cavity wall insulation, windows/doors, solar PV and heat pumps.

Role focuses on cost control, subcontractor procurement, CVR reporting and cash-flow management, with strong client liaison to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.

Qualifications

• Degree or other technical qualification required.
• Experience as QS with a main contractor in social housing refurbishment.
• Strong commercial awareness with proven contract delivery on time and budget.
• Knowledge of CVR, procurement and cost management processes.
• Excellent negotiation, communication and presentation skills.
• Familiarity with retrofit/decabonisation schemes is preferred.
• Proven ability to manage supply chain and subcontractors.

Responsibilities

Quantity Surveyor - Retrofit Projects / Decarbonisation (Social Housing)

Salary: Up to £66K + Car allowance & Benefits

We are working with a leading Social Housing contractor to recruit an experienced and successful Quantity Surveyor to join their team in their Northamptonshire/Bedfordshire region, working on a long-term Planned Maintenance and Decarbonisation projects.

We are looking for a proven commercial professional with experience in social housing refurbishment programmes delivering Cavity Wall Insultation, Windows and doors, Solar PV, Air source heat pumps. You will have a comprehensive commercial understanding of subcontractor procurement and cost management, the CVR process as well as excellent client relationship skills.

As the Quantity Surveyor for our client, some of your responsibilities will include:

• Control all expenditure
• Reconcile cost/value reports & profit forecasts
• On-boarding of Sub contractors/suppliers
• Ensuring value for money & financial assessments
• Manage day to day cost control & monitoring & reporting
• Process Sub contractor requests for payment via application & invoice
• Attend project & company related meetings
• Ensure timely cash flow management
• Maintain & develop professional relationships with clients & customers

Essential Quantity Surveyor Experience:

• Degree or other technical qualification
• Quantity Surveying experience with a main contractor
• Strong commercial awareness
• Proven track record delivering contracts on time and within budget
• Contractual awarenessNegotiating, communication & presentation skills
• Knowledge of Supply Chain management
• RICS / CIOB qualification - Preferred
