Job summary

Bigblue, a leading London fit-out and refurbishment contractor, is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join its central London team. The role supports the commercial lead on major London projects, including high-profile refurbishments of offices and listed buildings, with values up to £40m.

You will work with a team of QS, PMs and site staff, handling procurement, contract administration, CVRs, cash flow, and final accounts, ensuring robust cost control and timely commercial delivery.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Quantity Surveyor in fit-out/refurbishment or main contracting environments.
• Strong cost control and financial acumen.
• Proven procurement and subcontractor negotiation skills.
• Solid contract knowledge (JCT preferred).
• Ability to lead and mentor junior commercial staff.

Responsibilities

• Support the commercial lead on London projects up to £40m+ in value.
• Work with the QS team, Project Managers and site staff to drive best practice.
• Handle procurement, contract administration and subcontractor negotiations.
• Prepare CVRs, cash flow forecasts and financial reporting to the Commercial Lead/Manager.
• Implement robust cost control and risk management strategies.

Quantity Surveyor - Leading Main Contractor

Reports to: Commercial Manager

The Opportunity

We’re seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join a market-leading London fit out & refurbishment contractor, renowned for delivering high-profile refurbishments and fit outs to commercial offices and grade 2 listed buildings.

In this pivotal role, you’ll support a commercial lead on a £40m cut and carve refurbishment of an office space in the heart of London, or alternatively a £20m refurbishment to a grade 2 listed building in Central London, ensuring the successful commercial delivery of the project.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Supporting the commercial lead on projects across London up to £40m+ in value
• Work well with the wider team of Quantity Surveyors, Project Managers and site staff, driving best practice
• Procurement, contract administration, and subcontractor negotiations
• CVRs, cash flow, forecasting, and reporting to the Commercial Lead/ Manager
• Robust cost control and risk management strategies
• Change management and oversee final accounts
• Work closely with project delivery and client teams to ensure successful outcomes

What We’re Looking For

• Proven track record as a Quantity Surveyor working in the fit out/refurbishment or new build main contracting space
• Experience delivering commercial office or life sciences projects (CAT A & B, cut and carve, refurbishments)
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and mentor more junior commercial staff
• Excellent contract knowledge (JCT preferred) and financial acumen
• Ability to influence within a high-performing environment
