Job summary

M Group is recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor to support a fast-paced utilities contract, delivering effective commercial control, cost reporting and forecasting. You will collaborate with operations and client teams to optimise margins while driving value across multiple workstreams.

With a minimum of 3 years' QS experience in utilities/infrastructure, you will engage stakeholders, manage subcontract accounts and contribute to payment applications and client reporting.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in a Quantity Surveying role within utilities or infrastructure.
• Experience with NEC contracts and general contract awareness.
• Strong Excel skills with cost reporting and forecasting.
• Experience managing subcontract accounts and commercial administration.
• Excellent communication and teamwork with internal and external stakeholders.
• Proactive, self-motivated with ownership and drive.
• Good time management and ability to prioritise and work at pace.

Responsibilities

• Support the commercial management and administration of a live utilities contract, including cost reporting, forecasting and performance analysis.
• Assess and manage subcontractor accounts, ensuring accurate valuation and timely resolution of commercial issues.
• Support the preparation and submission of applications for payment and client reporting.
• Identify value opportunities, cost efficiencies and opportunities to improve margin and commercial processes.
• Work closely with operational teams to support delivery and ensure robust commercial control across the contract.
• Provide clear career progression toward Senior Quantity Surveyor level.

You'll join a fast-paced utilities contract at the heart of a large-scale water infrastructure programme, where your commercial input will directly support live delivery and help shape key decisions across multiple workstreams. What will you be doing?

What you'll bring

• Minimum 3 years' experience in a Quantity Surveying role within utilities/infrastructure or similar environment
• Working knowledge of NEC contracts and general contract awareness
• Strong Excel skills and good understanding of cost reporting and forecasting
• Experience of subcontract management and commercial administration
• Strong communication and teamworking skills, with the ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders
• A tenacious, self-motivated approach, with the confidence to take ownership
• Good time management skills, with a proactive mindset and the ability to prioritise effectively and execute at pace
