Job summary

GVR Solutions is seeking a site-based Quantity Surveyor to join their Surrey-based team. The role involves travel nationally when required, with a preference for working on local projects when possible and completing remaining work at home or in the office.

Ideal candidates will have proven experience in refurbishment or fit-out within construction, strong commercial awareness, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining client relationships and ensuring project

Qualifications

• Strong experience in fast-paced, short-duration construction or fit-out projects is advantageous.
• Always being commercially aware and able to provide budget figures.
• Can work across multiple projects, potentially four or five jobs at any given time.
• Clear understanding of site processes, project delivery, quality expectations, deadlines, and the risks of missing information.
• Able to keep clients updated and build strong relationships throughout each project.
• Be self-motivated, independent, proactive, and able to work without close supervision.
• Requires a willingness to travel heavily and accommodate occasional overnight trips.

Responsibilities

• Provide budget figures and commercial oversight across multiple projects.
• Liaise with clients, subcontractors and suppliers to manage costs and variations.
• Monitor site processes, delivery timelines and quality against contractual requirements.
• Travel nationally for project coverage while focusing local projects when possible.

Quantity Surveyor Required in Surrey

GVR Solutions are currently working with a well-established building and refurbishment contractor. They are seeking a site-based Quantity Surveyor who is willing to travel nationally when required, but to work on local projects when possible and complete the remainder of the work at home or in the office.

As a business they focus on leisure and hospitality projects, and the immediate priority is fast-paced schemes, as well as larger schemes lasting up to 50 weeks.

Requirements of the Quantity Surveyor:

• Strong experience in fast-paced, short-duration construction or fit-out projects is advantageous
• Always being commercially aware and able to provide budget figures
• Can work across multiple projects, potentially four or five jobs at any given time.
• Clear understanding of site processes, project delivery, quality expectations, deadlines, and the risks of missing information.

The Quantity Surveyor must have/be:

• Proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within construction.
• Specific experience with refurbishment or fit-out projects
• A strong understanding of construction contracts, variations, valuations and final accounts.
• Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills.
• The ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
• Good knowledge of construction methods, materials and associated costs.
• A proactive and commercially minded approach.
• Experience working with clients, subcontractors and suppliers.
